Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Russell Henley grew up right here in Colquitt, GA. He attended the University of Georgia where he graduated with his DVM in 1988. He practiced for a time in Griffin and Macon, Georgia, before heading back home in 1999 to open Colquitt Animal Hospital to serve the needs of his hometown community. He especially loves small animal surgery and internal medicine, particularly disorders of the adrenal gland.In his spare time, Dr. Henley loves hiking, biking, running and playing basketball. He shares his home with his wife, Lynn, daughter, Victoria, and his dogs Corndog and Chanel.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Heather Dean grew up in Atlanta and Bainbridge, GA. She attended the University of Georgia, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2003, and with her DVM in 2008. After veterinary school, she practiced small animal medicine in Thomson, GA, and then emergency medicine in Dothan, AL. She started working at Colquitt Animal Hospital in 2010 as a relief vet, and then moved to Bainbridge and resumed full time practice in 2011. She has a particular interest in dentistry and internal medicine, especially the management of chronic disease. Dr. Dean and her husband, Len, have two daughters, and they share their home with one dog and two cats. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, sewing, camping, and spending time with her family. She also leads a middle school ministry at her church.
Client Care Team
Shomari is a native of Colquitt, GA. She started working here last June, and has been a great addition to the Client Care team. Her favorite part of her job is getting to see and love on the animals that come in every day. She is currently pursuing a degree in business technology. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and playing with her Boykin Spaniel, Boss.
Makayla is from Bainbridge, GA. She started working at Colquitt Animal Hospital this summer. Her favorite part of her job is talking with clients and helping find solutions to issues they may have. Her hobbies include reading and crafting. She loves the challenge of trying new things.
Certified Veterinary Assistant
Crystal has been a part of our team since August 2011. She began her career in veterinary medicine in 2005 while living in Destin, FL. She is proficient in laboratory analysis, radiology, and surgical assisting. She especially enjoys working emergency care, dentistry, and working in surgery. She is currently enrolled in school to get her degree in Veterinary Technology. Aside from work, she enjoys many outdoor activities such as kayaking, jet-skiing, hunting and Jeeping. Her and her husband are the proud owners of a K9 Officer named Savage, two cats: Oren and Boo, and two feisty ferrets: Myla and Dax.
Leigha was born and raised in Bainbridge, GA. She is currently studying to get her degree in Veterinary Technology. Her favorite part of the job is laboratory analysis and helping those who cannot help themselves. Outside of work, she enjoys hanging out with her 3 cats and her pups Angel and Gizmoe.
Randi grew up in a suburb of Dallas, TX. In 2012, she settled here in Colquitt, GA. In 2016, she started working at Colquitt Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant. In 2017, she was trained as a veterinary assistant. She especially enjoyed laboratory analysis and parasitology. She was then cross trained to work the reception desk as well. In April 2019, she was offered the Hospital Manager position. She loves problem solving, and helping her employees, patients and clients feel cared for and valued. In her spare time, she enjoys going on cruises, gaming, and yoga. She shares her home with her husband, Kyle, and her 3 dogs: Nitro, Penny and Levi.
Shea has been a part of Colquitt Animal Hospital since 2003. She began her career while in high school working as a kennel assistant. Throughout her time here, she has established herself as a skilled veterinary assistant, and a stellar inventory manager. Her favorite part of her job is wound care and laboratory analysis. In her time off, she enjoys going to the beach, kayaking, and fishing. She is also a Sunday school teacher. She and her husband are the proud owners of a chihuahua mix, Cricket, a goofy cat named Batty, and a small, neutered colony of outdoor cats
Brooklyn grew up in Donalsonville, Georgia. She began working here at Colquitt Animal Hospital in 2019 as a kennel assistant. After taking some time away to finish school, she returned in summer of 2021 to take on a Veterinary Assistant role. Her favorite part of the job is dentistry and critical care cases. Brooklyn enjoys spending time with her husband and small herd of pets.
Amber was raised in Colquitt, Georgia. She started working at Colquitt Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant in 2020. The following year, she was trained as a Veterinary Assistant. Her favorite part of the job is radiology and assisting with surgeries. In her free time, she likes to read and hang out with her dogs.
